Our Approach

At Legacy Arts Studio, we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire confidence, creativity, and critical thinking in young people. Our approach centers on direct, collaborative learning where youth are not just participants—but creators.

We guide students through the entire filmmaking process—from ideas to screen—empowering them to write, direct, film, edit, and display their own original works. Our workshops and programs focus on mentorship, peer learning, and a supportive environment that encourages experimentation and bold expression.

We foster a space that is inclusive, youth-led, and socially aware, helping students find their voices and use film as a tool to explore identity, community, and the world around them. Whether they are aspiring filmmakers or simply curious creators, every young person leaves with new skills, new confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the art and impact of film.

curriculum

OUR YOUTH PROGRAMS:   Our Youth Programs will feature “all hands-on deck” approach to teaching individuals about the industry and the value of the team attributes that are so essential to a production crew. Every student will get an overview of the industry not by lecture but by “doing” the various jobs on the first day of training. Each student will participate in working cameras, lights, microphones, directing, acting, creating simple story lines and dialogue, editing, creating sets, and set décor, and so forth. It is an immersive process that will inspire them to want more and to see the endless possibilities that exist in the never-ending storytelling production business. Each production team will complete a film project, shown at the end of semester close-out to their peers and family members. The ultimate objective of the Youth Programs is to expose, inspire, and motivate them to seek further knowledge and instruction into the various levels of industry training for the purpose of accessing real JOBS as a long-term Career endeavor.

OUR YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS: designed with rich immersive training that will prepare them for active employment in the industry once they are matriculated through our programs.

EXPOSURE TO ALL ASPECTS OF FILMMAKING: All training programs from youth to adults will feature a “hands-on approach” to using every piece of equipment in the making of a TV show or Feature Film. All students are taught the use of Cameras, lighting, sound recording, costumes, make-up & hair, stunts, sets, and set dressing, props, special effects, locations, and transportation, and more. and the list goes on through every department. Obviously, all students will not be experts in every aspect of film making, but they will all be exposed to the various departments for the purpose of assisting them in discovering their unique career interest to pursue further once they have completed our training system.
