How it’s going
In March 2011, Pastor Stephen Dyson graciously took over the helm of the Church after the passing of the founding Pastor Dr. Billy G. Ingram.
After many years of experience in community services in various aspects of the Non-profit arena, Pastor Steve initiated the creation of The Legacy Arts Connection, Inc. which is a non-profit organization inspired by Dr. Billy G. Ingrams life and love of sharing God’s word, teaching youth and his love of music, photography, poetry and the Arts. Pastor Billy wrote and produced “THE LEGACY” a spoken-word musical masterpiece that played around the world and featured for many years on Radio stations during Black History month.
Pastor Steve has chosen to carry the torch forward of inspiring youth and young adults to develop their God given gifts in Arts and media. He sees the void in our Youth and their need to find purpose in sharing their voices, to opening career paths for gainful employment and to growing into mature individuals who are well balanced mentally, physically, and (socially) economically.
How We Started
Dr. Billy G., a genuinely great man—founder of maranatha community church and the better of two worlds radio ministry inspired the birth of Legacy Arts Connection non-profit organization. Dr. Ingram was the catalyst for changing the lives of thousands of people by his dynamic teaching of the word of God for more than 35 years. Dr. Ingram aka “pastor Billy” was not only an exceptional teacher and avid student of God’s word, but also a lover of culture and the arts.
His extensive travels around the globe expanded his knowledge and exposure to every nationality of people and their distinct cultures. Always learning, exploring, and sharing his incredible gifts, but his greatest passion was inspiring the lives of young people, and he diligently sought them out to counsel, encourage, and blow wind under their wings… that they would do great and mighty things in their lives!
While Pastor Billy left us far too soon, he left an indelible LEGACY of his love for educating, sharing, and inspiring young people to discover their gifts.
It is through this organization that we hope to fulfill his dream!
